Fujifilm DPII Professional Paper

Fujifilm DPII Professional is high-quality photochemical paper designed for professional use. Your photos are not printed with ink, but exposed with light onto light-sensitive paper and then chemically developed. This results in richer colours, deeper blacks and exceptional sharpness. The outcome is a natural, detailed image without visible dot patterns.

Not Printed, but Exposed

When you choose real photo paper, your images are chemically developed rather than inkjet printed. Just like traditional photo prints, the image is exposed to light on the paper. This ensures sharper details and more lifelike colours. Unlike inkjet or offset printing, there are no visible halftone dots.

Paper types

: Photo prints on Fujifilm Digital Professional DP II paper meet the highest standards in sharpness, gloss, and color. Professional photographers choose this paper for its high and consistent quality. The photos are produced at high resolution on professional photo paper. Compared to most photo labs, our resolution is even 100% higher, resulting in superior image quality, finer details, and natural much more beautiful photo prints.
Fujifilm photo paper offers an exceptionally wide color gamut. Depending on the desired effect, you can choose between Glossy, Lustre, Glossy Pearl, or Velvet finishes for your photo prints on Fujifilm DP II paper.
: Fuji Lustre (Matte) is original Fujifilm photo paper with an evenly fine matte surface. It offers brilliant color reproduction and beautiful, deep blacks and whites with excellent tonal detail. The paper is less sensitive to fingerprints and is ideal for framing behind glass.
In addition, this paper is very suitable for mounting on materials such as Forex, polystyrene, and Dibond. Are you a portrait photographer? Fuji Lustre paper is exceptionally well suited for portrait photography.
Consideration:
It appears less deep and intense compared to Fuji Glossy (although this is not the case when measuring color values).
: Fuji Glossy is original Fujifilm photo paper with a high-gloss finish. It is ideally suited for photo prints with a beautiful shine and brilliant color reproduction. Thanks to its wide contrast range, you’ll experience perfect tonal detail in deep blacks and bright highlights. This makes the paper especially suitable for nature and action or sports photography. In addition, the paper can be mounted on materials such as Forex, polystyrene, or Dibond.
Consideration:
Due to the glossy finish, reflections are more noticeable in certain lighting conditions, and fingerprints tend to show more easily.
: Fuji Glossy Pearl is original Fujifilm photo paper with a high-gloss “metallic/pearl” surface. The paper is sturdy, thick, and delivers brilliant color reproduction. It provides a strong impression of sharpness with deep blacks and bright whites that retain excellent tonal detail. Want your photo to really pop off the paper? Combine Fuji Glossy Pearl with acrylic. The pearlescent effect adds an extra dimension to glamour photography and product photography, especially for jewelry and cars. The Pearl element is particularly effective in photos with metallic surfaces.
Consideration:
The pearlescent effect may not be visible on all photos. The paper has a slightly warmer/yellower tone, which can make images appear a bit darker.
: Fuji Velvet Paper is original Fujifilm photo paper with an extremely matte finish and a subtle, soft appearance. Its look makes this paper especially suitable for portraits with a vintage touch, newborn photography, or wedding reports. The paper is so smooth and soft that it resembles velvet. This finish softens the colors and contrast in your photos, and the paper does not reflect light at all. Due to its extremely matte surface, the black level is lower, resulting in less contrast and a kind of FineArt look.
Consideration:
Lower black levels and reduced contrast may slightly soften color intensity. The surface is delicate and can be more prone to damage.

Matte or Glossy Photo Paper?

Each finish has its own character. Your choice depends on personal preference and where the photo will be displayed.

Glossy surfaces enhance contrast and colour intensity. Matte finishes reduce reflections and create a calmer look.

The Location Where Your Photo Will Be Displayed

Consider the lighting in the room. Direct sunlight or artificial lighting may cause reflections, especially on glossy paper. In bright spaces, a matte finish such as Lustre or Velvet is often the better choice.

Framing or Not?

If framing without a mount (directly against the glass), Lustre or Velvet is recommended to minimise reflections and prevent sticking to the glass.
When using a mount, Glossy or Glossy Pearl are also excellent options.
