Design without worries: how to add photo frames
At the edge of your page layout you'll see two lines: a blue one and a red one. The blue line marks the outermost edge of the page. The red line marks our cutting line. Everything between the red and blue line (in the red area) is removed when the pages are cut. Keep this in mind while designing.
Placing photos with a margin
Do you want a neat white border around your photos or a calm layout? Then make sure you don't place the photos too close to the edge. Keep about half a centimetre inside the red line. This way you prevent parts of your photo from accidentally being cut off during the production process.
Placing photos with page bleed
Do you want your photo to run all the way to the edge of the page, for example as a background? Then let your photo run all the way to the blue line (so into the entire red area). This way you prevent white borders after cutting and keep your layout clean and professional.
Aligning
Aligning means that the photos are exactly in line, above or next to each other. This makes the whole thing look sharp. You can align in several ways:
With the inspector – This is the most precise method. Click on the ruler in the top right. Here you can enter the x and y coordinates for the horizontal and vertical distance from the top left corner.
With guides – Guides can also help with alignment. First make the rulers visible via View > Show rulers. Click on the ruler and drag a guide to the right spot in the album. Choose Snap Position in the menu View > Guides to make the photos magnetic. When dragging the frames, the photos will easily snap to the guide.
With a grid – Make a grid visible via View > Grid > Show. Choose Snap position to make the photos magnetic. When dragging the frames, the photos will easily snap to the guide.
Centring – Select your photo and right-click on Align > Align to the vertical or horizontal centre of the page. Do you want to align two or more photos with each other at the top, side or bottom? Then also select all photos with shift. Right-click on Align and choose which side you want to align the photos.
