What is photo optimisation / OPT?
What is Image Optimization (OPT)?
When placing your order, you can select the OPT (automatic image optimization) option. This automatically enhances your photos in terms of color, brightness, and contrast.
At many printing labs, optimization is switched on by default. At Profotonet, it’s not — we leave that choice up to you, since many photographers prefer to make their own manual adjustments. Have you already edited your photos and is your monitor properly calibrated? Then we recommend leaving this option off.
Tip: Read our article ‘My print is too dark’ for helpful tips on how to properly evaluate your photos.
When is optimization applied?
Only if you select “Optimization” in the filters or options will this correction be applied. Once enabled, you’ll immediately see a preview in your design of how your photo will look with optimization.
How much will my photo change?
That depends on the image and can’t be predicted with 100% certainty. In most cases, colors will be refreshed, brightness improved, and contrast enhanced — subtle, but noticeable.
