At Haaglanden Medical Center (HMC) in The Hague (Westeinde), bare hospital corridors were transformed into a dynamic exhibition with a clear mission: getting patients and staff moving. With 16 prints on aluminium dibond, you can now walk through the highlights of The Hague.

Encourage movement through recognition and pride

To brighten up HMC's bare corridors, the hospital looked for wall art with an active goal: getting people moving. By transforming the corridors into an inviting walking route centered on the theme of The Hague, patients and visitors are encouraged to walk. The recognizable images of The Hague provide a welcome distraction, evoke nostalgia, and spark wonderful conversations in the hallways.

"The goal was not merely to cover bare walls, but to actually get people moving by creating a recognizable 'Tour of The Hague'."

Over 120 submissions from dedicated colleagues

The photos for the wall decoration were gathered by a dedicated employee/volunteer from the internal art committee. To foster connection in the workplace, colleagues were invited to submit their own photos of The Hague. This proved to be a huge success: out of over 120 submissions (taken with both cameras and smartphones), 16 photos were selected.

The 'Tour of The Hague' opens with a map of the route, followed by 15 highlights of The Hague. Each image features the name of the colleague-photographer along with a brief explanation. This brings a great sense of pride to the department!

Robust and sleek with aluminium dibond

In a busy hospital corridor with beds and equipment constantly passing by, wall decorations need to be able to withstand a few bumps. The choice for photos on aluminium dibond (50×75cm) was therefore quickly made: robust and shape-retaining. Our razor-sharp print quality brings out the details of The Hague beautifully, while the mounting profile creates a sleek, floating effect on the wall.

Enthusiastic responses and future plans

Every day, the photo wall draws dozens of admiring glances and noticeably brings atmosphere and movement to the department. Should a panel ever get damaged in the hustle and bustle of the corridor, HMC sees it as an opportunity to showcase a new piece of The Hague. Thanks to its resounding success, premium quality, and sleek finish, there is now a desire to outfit other bare departments in the same way in the future.
