What is embossing?

Embossing is a luxurious finishing technique in which text or a design is pressed into the cover material using a professional embossing machine. This creates a tactile relief that gives the cover an elegant look and feel. When combined with a foil color such as gold, silver, white, or black, the text stands out even more. The result is a cover that is just as impressive as the contents of the book.

This option is available for two types of photo books: the Premium Hardcover Photo Book and the Professional Photo Book.

Choosing an embossing cover when creating a photo boo

When you start creating your photo book online, first select a book type that supports embossing. Next, choose the desired size and orientation. During the ordering process, you’ll be given the option to add embossing to the cover.

At checkout, you select the cover material, indicate how many lines of text you want on the cover, and choose the letter size. Then pick the foil color that best matches your design gold, silver, black, or white. This way, you create a luxurious and personal cover that makes your photo book truly special.

Embossing options and possibilities

With our embossing, we offer three options, depending on the number of lines and the size of the characters. In the table below, you can see the available embossing choices, including the options for foil color and letter size.

Belangrijk om te weten is dat embossing alleen mogelijk is op effen covers binnen de volgende collecties: Nature, Noé, Pure, Tropical, Sparkle, Classic, en Western.

Bovenstaande letters, tekens en cijfers zijn vastgelegd in een tandwielsysteem, waardoor alleen deze vaste karakters beschikbaar zijn voor embossing en het niet mogelijk is om speciale symbolen of afbeeldingen toe te voegen.

Belangrijke uitzonderingen bij embossing

Bij het kiezen van een embossing cover is het goed om rekening te houden met een aantal uitzonderingen. Niet alle kaftmaterialen zijn geschikt voor embossing met folie. Sommige oppervlakken zorgen ervoor dat de folie niet goed hecht, waardoor het eindresultaat niet voldoet aan onze kwaliteitsstandaard. Daarom is embossing alleen mogelijk bij de eerder genoemde Premium Hardcover en Professionele fotoboeken.

Daarnaast is het niet mogelijk om een eigen lettertype te kiezen voor de embossing. Wij werken met een klassiek koperen letterwiel dat vaste, zorgvuldig gekozen standaardletters bevat. In de voorbeelden eerder aangegeven in de blog zie je precies hoe deze letters eruitzien.
