Unique laser text on all photo books
Do you want to make your amazing photo book even more personal? Then we have good news! With all of our photo books, it’s possible to add a unique laser text to the front cover. This applies to our Premium hardcover, and Professional photo books. Please note that laser text is only available on a selected range of covers. On this page, you can find which covers allow you to add a personal laser text.
Each cover has its own character
At Profotonet, you can choose from over 60 cover colors to design a beautiful, unique, and personal cover for your photo book. Each material has its own character and reacts differently to the laser engraving machine. As a result, every material creates a different effect on the laser text. Leather and suede covers, for example, create more of an embossed look. A thin layer of the leather or suede is burned away, creating a subtle depth effect. With linen and vinyl covers, this is not the case the text is engraved directly onto the material. In addition, the laser produces a different text color depending on the material. This happens because the top layer of the cover material is burned away, revealing the underlying layer, which determines the color of the laser text. This means it’s not possible to choose the color of your laser design.
Create your laser text exactly the way you want
The great thing about laser text is that there are endless possibilities. Any font, any text, any size, and even custom illustrations such as rings, cities, logos, or other unique designs can all be laser engraved.
When creating your own engraving, make sure your design is set up in black. Then place your black design on a white background. This allows us to laser your design onto the photo book in the best possible way. The only thing you can’t choose is the color, so there’s no need to take that into account when designing your personal laser engraving.
How do I set up my laser text?
In our offline and online software, we’ve already created a number of designs for you to use on your cover. You’re welcome to use these, but you can also upload your own design. Create your design using a program of your choice and upload it as a .JPEG, PNG, or TIFF file. When creating your laser design, please keep the following points in mind:
- In the offline or online software, choose the product “photo book with laser text” and use only black text or designs on the cover. Do not choose a colorful design, as the laser does not recognize colors.
- Make sure your design has a blank/white background. Choosing a background color won’t work, as it will be lasered black. The laser engraving machine also can’t engrave lighter or darker areas everything is engraved using the same heat intensity.
- Take the size of the cover into account and avoid making your design too small. A laser design is more visible on some materials than on others. For example, small designs with thin lines can be difficult to see on a linen cover. That’s why we recommend avoiding very small or thin fonts. Make sure the lines in your text or design are slightly thicker (at least 2 pixels).
Our team manually checks your design before engraving it onto the cover. This way, we ensure your design is laser engraved optimally and that you receive the best possible quality.
A photo book with laser text comes with a small additional charge of just €19.
