Guide: how to create your photo book in our editor

With our editor, creating a beautiful photo book is easier and faster than ever, fully tailored to your wishes. To help you get started, we’ve created this guide. Follow the steps and start designing your unique photo book right away!

Step 1:

Before you start designing, choose which type of photo book you want to create. We offer three variants, all of top quality, printed on real photo paper with fully lay-flat pages.

Tip: Create a folder in advance with all the photos you want to use. This keeps everything organised and helps you work faster.

Choose type photo book

: Premium hardcover photo book
- Hard cover for a luxurious look
- Choice of thickened or standard pages
- Up to 70 pages (thickened) or 100 pages (standard)
- High-quality finish with fully lay-flat pages

15×15 cm, 15×20 cm, 20×20 cm, 20×30 cm, 30×20 cm, 25×25 cm, 30×30 cm, 30×45 cm
: Professional photo book
- Hand-bound by skilled craftsmen
- Luxury covers in leather, linen or acrylicPadded cover with linen endpapers
- Thickened pages with 1 mm museum board
- Up to 70 pages

Step 2: Set your preferences

After choosing the type of photo book, you can define the details:

Orientation: Square, Landscape or Portrait
Size
Paper type
Pages: thickened or standard (where available)
Cover and cover material
Image optimisation (enabled by default)*

Image optimisation:
Our smart image analysis automatically enhances print quality. We recommend disabling this option only if you’ve carried out precise image edits on a calibrated monitor.

Step 3: Start designing

Give your project a name
The design tool opens automatically

Upload photos:

Click the orange button to add your photos
Choose between:
1 : Automatic placement (photos are placed randomly)
2" Manual placement (choose photos per page yourself)

Step 4: Design your pages

Select a page and click Layout in the left panel
Choose the desired number of photos per page or spread
Prefer a different look? Use Shuffle layout in the top right to rearrange the design

Step 5: Edit photos

Click a photo to select it, or drag another photo into the frame
With Edit, you can:
- Adjust the size
- Rotate the photo
Use Bring to front to place a photo in the foreground or background

Step 6: Add text

Click Text in the left panel and add a text box
Type a caption, date or quote, for example
Customise the font, size and colour to your liking

Step 7: Backgrounds & borders

Click Background to choose a background colour or image
Add stylish frames to your photos via Borders
Play with styles and make it completely your own

Step 8: Manage pages

Use Rearrange to move pages
Double-click a page to return to editing
Click + to add extra pages

Step 9: Review and order your photo book

Click Preview to review everything
Check that:
1. All photos are placed correctly
2. Texts are readable and correct
