Do you have a question about our photo book software? Browse the questions below.
What is the ‘Enhance’ function and when should you use it?
The Enhance function automatically adjusts your photos for colour, brightness and contrast. You can use this option if you’re unsure whether your monitor is correctly calibrated and therefore not certain how your photos will print.
We also recommend reading the article “My print is too dark” for more tips on properly evaluating your images.
If you edit your photos yourself and your monitor is well calibrated, there’s no need to enable this option. You’ll find Enhance in the menu at the top right of our Album Designer, under the second tab. You can select multiple frames by holding the Shift key, and the effect will be visible immediately.
Are the photos in my photo book automatically corrected?
At Profotonet, we assume that photographers edit their photos themselves, so no corrections are applied to your images by default. However, the software does include an optional automatic correction that you can enable if you wish.
Simply select the photo and click Enhance. Our intelligent image optimisation software will then adjust the photo subtly, without compromising your original edit. You can select multiple frames at once by holding down the Shift key.
Do you offer Photoshop and InDesign templates for photo books?
Yes, absolutely. If you’d like to design your photo book yourself in Photoshop or InDesign, you can use our ready-made templates. We highly recommend these to ensure the correct dimensions and bleed settings. You can download the templates here.
Download the template you need, design your pages as you like and save them as JPG files. Once all your pages are finished, open our software, upload all the spreads you’ve designed and place them one by one into the layout. The cover can easily be designed in our software, as its size varies depending on the number of pages.
You can simply drag the spreads onto the pages and use the right mouse button to scale them to fit the full spread. Once everything is in place, you can place your order via the green shopping cart icon.
De spreads kun je heel simpel op de pagina’s slepen en met je rechtermuisknop schalen over de gehele spread. Staat alles erin? Dan kun je hem bestellen via het groene winkelmandje.
Can I order with Fundy Designer or Pixellu SmartAlbums?
Yes, all our photo books are available in both Fundy Designer and Pixellu SmartAlbums. Ordering directly from these programs isn’t possible, but you can design your album in either of them and then easily place your order via our software in just a few steps.
Step 1: Choose the correct product and size, and start designing your photo album in Fundy Designer or Pixellu SmartAlbums.
Step 2: Once finished, export the album in high resolution, print quality, as JPG files.
Step 3: Save the exported files neatly in a folder on your computer.
Step 4: Open our software, select the desired product and add the same number of pages as in your design.
Step 5: Import all the finished spreads you created in the other software. From the page styles, choose “full spread”, then right-click and select “apply this page style to all pages”. Drag the images onto the pages one by one — they will automatically scale perfectly to fill the entire spread.
Step 6: Place your order easily via the green shopping cart, and choose your preferred cover and paper type if desired.
Step 7: We’ll get started on your order right away.
How do I change the product or size of a photo book?
You can easily change the product type of your photo book (size or cover type) in the Album Designer by following these steps:
Step 1: Open the project you want to change.
Step 2: In the toolbar (the menu bar directly above the design area), click “Change product”. You can only switch to products with the same aspect ratio and within the same product range. The software will show you which formats are available.
Step 3: Select the desired size and click “Convert”. The product will now be converted.
Step 4: Carefully check all pages in the photo book afterwards, even if your design was already finished. Pay special attention to alignment and any resolution warnings.
If you’re using the Online Designer, click the “Change product” button instead.
